About Magdalena

Flamenco dance classes in New York City and Washington D.C. with Flamenco-con-Magdalena! Study with authentic Flamenco performance artist "La Magdalena", who offers intensive workshops, private lessons, and Flamenco dance classes in NYC, and the Washington D.C. area.

When not teaching, performing, or choreographing in New York City, Magdalena trains in Andalucía with the legendary gypsy families of Farruco, Vargas, and Fernandez. Other influences are Seville natives Isabel Bayón and Pastora Galván, as well as Andres Peña and Alejandro Granados.

In the mid 90's Magdalena helped revive the NYC Flamenco scene, cutting her teeth on stage at local venues such as Xunta, Alegrías, and Kaña. Since then she has performed with companies across the U.S.

Inspired by her first mentors, Magdalena integrates her unique musical and educational training to create an exciting study program for all ages and dance backgrounds. She is a teacher at heart, dedicated to students and the excitement of learning.

Magdalena is best known for her traditional style which focuses on the musicality, grace, power, and rhythm of Flamenco. She has been inspiring audience members and students alike for over 15 years and was awarded grants by The Field and Fractured Atlas for her work as an individual performing artist. Magdalena can often be found dancing, singing, and playing "cajon" on the streets of her second home, Sevilla.
