Booking Flamenco
"Flamenco con Magdalena" is an educational and performance based program of authentic Flamenco inspired by the source, Andalucía. A dancer, teacher, and choreographer- living part time in Seville, Spain- La Magdalena aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the more traditional themes in Flamenco music & dance. Shows, Demonstrations, Parties, Workshops Arts in Education Full length performance Flamenco is known for it's complicated rhythmic patterns which can mystify even the most experienced musician! The dance can be fiery and spontaneous (such as in the flamenco "fiesta") - or melancholy and thought-provoking, depending on the form. Many people associate Flamenco to the Gypsy Kings, but there is another world of this music to discover, such as with the older forms of "cante jondo". La Magdalena and her "cuadro flamenco" (guitarist, singer, & fellow dancers) dress in traditional costume. With their dynamic energy they can provide an exciting entertainment and/or educational experience for a variety of audiences. A seasoned teacher of over 15 years, Flamenco con Magdalena can also bring Flamenco to your private or public school. (past workshops have taken place at P.S. 166, CUNY Kingsborough, Hunter College, and the United Nations to name a few.) Flamenco is inherently multi-cultural, its roots based in Andalucía, Spain. For centuries the Gypsy, Jewish, Christian, and Moorish communities lived in relative harmony, influencing each other's music and dance traditions. Flamenco was born from this collaboration, and still thrives today in many parts of the world. Flamenco con La Magdalena brings this energy to stage- performing at festivals, corporate events, school shows, or private parties.
