What's New! NYC & SEVILLE UPDATES a Look Back... News...Shows to See...Greetings from Spain!
Greetings from Seville! It was a busy summer / early fall:
Residency at Jacob's Pillow with Noche Flamenca. Dance & Rhythm workshops at Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. Lots of classes in NYC for all levels, which ended with an amazing FLAMENCO SHOWCASE and CHARITY EVENT. Thanks to everyone for your support... and undying love for El Arte Flamenco! (Your generosity also allowed a $550 donation to be made to Earths Angels Canine Rescue.)
Once again I am a very proud profe. These students worked hard to learn their Tangos, Seguiriya, and Bulerías de Jerez. The place was packed - and from the jaleos we heard backstage, the audience was thrilled !!!! Fotos are now posted in the Gallery. For those of you who missed it- video is on the way!
Congratulations to those who won free classes and an entire Flamenco Workshop in Jan '09. Ole!

GREAT GRANT NEWS: I've received a grant as an individual artist from Fractured Atlas. This funding allows me to continue bringing Flamenco - inspired by my second home of Andalucía - to New York through education and performance.
The Field has offered me a position as Artist in Residency at the Abron Arts Center. Stay tuned for announcements about those in-house workshops and performances.

Conceived and directed by acclaimed dancer Farruquito, grandson of the legendary patriarch El Farruco, this program features La Farruca, daughter of El Farruco, noted for her passionate dancing; her son, Farruco, a rising star in flamenco known for his intense performance style and amazing footwork; La Faraona, dubbed “the mother of buleria” by her father El Farruco; Barullo, grandson of El Farruco, who maintains the elegance of traditional flamenco dance; two guitarists; and three singers." VAMO' YA!
Saturday, February 21, 2009:
Estrella Morente sings at Carnegie Hall!
This powerful singer, daughter of renowned singer Enrique Morente and dancer Aurora Carbonell, has "dazzled audiences and critics alike with her compelling performances of flamenco and popular Spanish songs in the Andalusian tradition." Visit the Carnegie Hall Website
