LONGING ...LOSS... AND INTRIGUE: An 8 minute film noir made as part of the international 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT, featuring La Magdalena as... herself. Produced, directed and written by Sean O'Bryan. Catch this TRAILER and stay tuned for film release.
Thursday May 6: MAGDALENA GOT "CULTURE SHOCKED" @ ONE ARM RED in DUMBO. Film, word, dance, and live music all along side a view of the bridge. Gracias Claudia for making this event come to life! "Help initiate spring with New York's brightest art makers and noise shakers."
Mondays in April '10: STUDENT WORKS-IN-PROGRESS at JEBON in the EAST VILLAGE Students presented new material.
Friday April 9: MAGDALENA DANCED with GABRIELA GRANADOS's cuadro flamenco and the American Bolero Dance Company at Auditorium de Centro Espanol.
March 17-22 marked another great round of workshops at ANDA FLAMENCO DANCE ACADEMY in Minneapolis. Gracias a Kristina, Mike, Trevor and all the students for a wonderful welcome and all your hard work!
2009 Highlights:
*Oct 9 - 12, 2009: Intensive 4 Day Workshop at the New Day Center for Performing Arts in Portland, Oregon
*Oct 1, 2009: NOCHE ANDALUZA Magdalena & her "flamenquitos" performed at PAN LATIN CAFE in NYC.
*Sept 13, 2009: performance for "The Global Look" - a full length NYC TV show featuring student performances of Fandangos de Huelva, Tangos, and Sevillanas.
*Sept 18 & 19, 2009: Magdalena returns to teach at Burlington, Vt's Flynn Center for the Performing Arts
*Aug 5, 2009: Magdalena joins La Meira, Cristian Puig, and David Castellano at "N" (Enye), NYC's longest running Spanish Tapas & Flamenco bar in town. (33 Crosby St, SOHO)
*May 15, 2009: Performance with Gabriela Granados, La Conja, La Meira, and Jose Moreno at American Bolero's Tablao Flamenco in Queens.
*April 2009 @ Lafayette Grill - Student Extravaganza! See this youtube clip of the opening number.
* March 2009: Magdalena joins Maya de Silva and Los Chavales del Barrio as guest artist in "Flamenco Revolucion", Jackie Onassis Theater
*Jan 09: Residency at The Field for development of a new piece, work culminated in presentation Jan 24 at the Abron Arts Center, Henry Street Settlement
*SUMMER 08: Magdalena was awarded one of twenty five openings in Jacob's Pillow's first ever flamenco "Cultural Traditions" residency, studying intensively under Soledad Barrio and Antonio Jimenez, "El Chupete" of Noche Flamenca
